This seminar, titled ‘Romeo: A new innovative solution to control key foliar diseases’ takes a look at a new and innovative way to control foliar fungal diseases, such as botrytis, powdery mildew, and downy mildew.
As the session’s name suggests, this new product is called Romeo, a biofungicide based on cerevisane and is developed by Fargo in partnership with Agrauxine.
The seminar will be presented by representatives from the two companies behind Romeo, global technical manager biocontrol at Agrauxine, Damien Verger, and technical development specialist at Fargo, Ant Surrage.

With Romeo that triggers the defense mechanism of a plant or a 'SAR' response what is your take on the importance of calcium in the trigger mechanism and Quorum sensing ?

Hello Hugh, It is known that calcium has an importance in SAR via CPK5. And as many pathways and even unknown ones now are activated by the plant in SAR it could have an importance as in biology, every thing is linked. Regarding Romeo, we never tried to look after the effect of adding Ca to trigger better as beta glucans and manans are already activating many pathways. Regarding quorum sensing, I am not sure what you are refering to, in bacteria ?

calcium does have its part to play in Sar responses and the how a plant chooses to defend itself ,this goes hand in hand with quorum sensing and the plants symbiotic relationship with the bacteria and fungi around it and what it needs to draw on during times of attack
